Ford is an American automaker headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan. One of the most recognized names in the automobile industry, Ford is also one of the oldest automakers in the world and certainly one of the most renowned. In this article, we will take a look at what are the requirements and other details in order to get a job at Ford distribution center.

Company History –
Ford was initially known as Henry Ford Company after Henry Ford, and was his first attempt to begin a car company with his own name. That was in the year 1901. In 1903, The Ford Motor Company was started by twelve investors with an amount of $28,000. Every decade in 20th century, Ford went on to introduce new lines of cars with new technology and improvements.
In 1990, Ford acquired Jaguar Cars and in the year 1994, Ford acquired Aston Martin.
On June 2, 2008, Ford sold its Jaguar and Land Rover operations to Tata Motors, an Indian multinational automobile company. Today, Ford is one of the biggest automobile manufacturers in the world employing more than 164,000 employees.

What does it take to get a job at Ford?
If you go over to the Ford website’s careers page, you will see that the kind of jobs offered by Ford are divided into two categories. One is for experienced people and the second is for graduates/interns. In this article, we will be talking about the internships. There are a lot of avenues at Ford which you can explore. For example, if you majored in Journalism or Communications, you can apply for a Communications position at Ford. For that particular position, you will require a degree in Journalism or communication and a GPA of 3.2 or higher. It is important to note that almost all jobs at Ford require prior experience in the specific job position you are applying. For example, a position at Communications requires a news reporting or editing experience. The experience required of course varies with every job function that you apply for, but in some cases, experience required might be as high as 8 years in your chosen field. For example, if you wish to apply for an internship program in Information Technology sector of Ford, you will require three to eight years of working experience in a technical field. So, if you have a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field along with three to eight years of prior experience in the field, you can apply for I.T internships at Ford. If you have an MBA instead of a Master’s degree, it’s all good and you can still apply for the internship program. How to apply for a job at Ford?
In order to apply for a job or internship program at Ford, go to www.ford.com. Once you are on the webpage, on the top panel, you will see “More Ford”. Hovering your mouse over it will bring down a dropdown list from which you can click on “Careers”. That will take you to the Careers page of the website. On the right side of the page, you will see a box that says “Begin your job search”. There is a dropdown list of country you can select. Select the appropriate option from there. For example, once you select United States, it will show “Careers U.S” below it. Click on it. Once you click on “Careers”, you will be taken to the next page where you will have to choose either “Direct/Experienced Hire Job Postings” or “Student and Recent Graduate Job Postings”. “Direct/Experienced Hire Job Postings” is for candidates who have been out of school for three or more years and are experienced. “Student and Recent Graduate Job Postings” are for candidates who are either currently pursuing their Undergraduate, graduate or doctorate degrees or for those who have graduated from a college or university within the past three years. Click on the link of your choice. For the sake of an example, we will choose “Student and Recent Graduate Job Postings” for this article. Once you click on it, you will see the welcome page for students and graduates. Below the text at the centre of the page, you will see “Search openings” link. Click on it. Once you click on “Search openings”, you will be taken to a page with three fields. One field is “keyword” which means you can enter the keyword if you have a particular job on your mind that you would like to directly search by that keyword. The second field is Auto Req ID which is an ID for each job position. Since we intend to look for jobs and we have no knowledge of the auto Req IDs for any job positions yet, we will see the third field, which is “Function”. This is where you choose the job function of your choice. Once you select the function of your preference, click on “Search” button. It will then display the available jobs or internship programs for your search. Now, you can apply for a job simply by checking the box next to a particular job. If you wish to see all the requirements and description of a job, hover over the Auto Req ID of the job, which is right next to the checkbox. Once you hover on it, a box will be displayed telling you about jobs at the company. Below all the text, you will see it says “Click here for job details”. Clicking on it will then display the page detailing the job description and requirements. Note that you need to create a login in order to apply for Ford jobs. Once you check the box for the job you want to apply for and click on “Apply to job(s)”, it will ask you for login information. If you wish to create a new account, click on “Click here to create a new login”.

  • The average salary for an intern at Ford is $20.04/hr with the lowest salary reportedly being $17/hr and the highest salary being $27/hr.
  • The average salary for the position of Auto Assembler is $28.75/hr with the lowest salary being reportedly $27/hr and the highest salary being $30/hr.

  • Sample interview question – “What is the one project you were the most proud of and why?”
  • In some cases, for example, for the intern position in Finance, the candidate might be given a business case and the questions will be related to the case.
