History

Toys R Us was founded by Charles Lazarus in 1948. He dreamed of making a child-oriented business. He then started a baby furniture store in which he named Children’s Bargain Town located in Washington, D.C. that caters to the post-war baby boom era. He ran his first store from bookkeeping to delivering the products to customers’ homes. Lazarus introduced new products for infants and older children into the company. Ten years later, he adopted the supermarket model for his store in which customers can pick out their products on their own and pay at the counter. When he opened his second store, he decided to name the store Toys R US with a backward R for he knew it will be an attention-getter. With his cleverness for his business he expanded into a public company in 1978 along with its iconic mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe which he introduced in 1960. In 1983, the company opened its first children’s clothing store in which they called Kids R Us located in New Jersey and New York. In 1996, the company decided to add the clothing apparel to most of the stores because of its positive sales brought to the company. Within the same year, they launched Babies R Us, which offers products for all the new and expectant parents. It became the nation’s leading baby products retailer and grew for almost more than 250 stores across the U.S. The company expanded internationally, particularly in the following countries; Canada, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Distribution Center (DC) Assistant Facilities Manager
You will coordinate the repair and maintenance of the entire DC building and all the equipments. You will manage personnel assigned to technical and maintenance positions. You will travel to other DCs to conduct training and support.

Warehouse Operations Team Member
You will handle the unloading of all cartons and other merchandise for store shipments. You will operate various materials handling equipment such as forklift, turret and reach truck.

Clerical Specialist
You will perform varieties of specialized and technical, clerical duties such as record processing, preparation of documents and support other administrative tasks.
