Publix is an American supermarket chain based in Florida. We will be looking into employment opportunities at Publix here.

Company History –
Publix was founded by George Jenkins in the year 1930. The first public market was opened in Winter Haven, Florida on April 19, 1930. The company did good business ever since its inception. In the year 1945, Jenkins bought All American food stores chain and converted them to Publix Super Markets. By the late 1950s, Publix was the biggest supermarket chain in Central Florida. The chain began expansion to southeast Florida as well. Today, Publix employs more than 140,000 people and has more than 1,050 retail locations.

Jobs at Publix distribution centers
Following are some of the jobs at Publix distribution centers:

Warehouse Selector: As a warehouse selector, you will select products ordered by retail stores. You will also assist in other duties as assigned. Before beginning the job, you must pass a Physical Agility test in order to do the job. This position involves lifting weights up to 85 lbs repetitively. You will stack products of varying weights at heights of up to 7 feet.

Maintenance Technician: As a maintenance technician, your job is to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipments in the facility. You will be required to perform preventative maintenance in the facility. You will be troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipments. You will also be building steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrications as needed. You will also operate forklift and troubleshoot PLC and computer controlled devices. For this position, you must have experience with electro-mechanical, pneumatic and PLC controllers. Previous food plant experience and an experience working with hydraulics is preferred.

Select ‘Distribution Center’. At the center of the page, you will see that it asks ‘Are you an active Publix associate?’ Click ‘No’. It should then take you to the job search page. Here you can select location, employment type as well as functional areas. Make the desired selections and then click on ‘Search’ button at the lower right corner of the page. It will then display the search results on a page with the columns ‘Position Title’, ‘Job ID’, ‘Location’ and ‘Date Posted’. Click on the title of the particular job you wish to apply for, if you wish to read the full descriptions and requirements for the position. Else, simply select the jobs you wish to apply for and then click on the icon which says ‘Apply to selected jobs’ in the lower right area of the page. This will begin the application process.   • The minimum base pay of a Warehouse Selector is $12.40/hr and the Maximum base pay of a warehouse selector is $15.50/hr.
