Charles Francis O’Reilly was a salesman who travelled by train to sell auto parts in the Springfield area. He recognized the area as an opportunity for growth and asked to be transferred there. He had become a manager of Link Motor Supply along with one of his sons, Charles H. O’Reilly joining the company as well. Link planned a reorganization in the year 1957 which included of the retirement of Charles F. O’Reilly and the transfer of his son to Kansas City. Neither of them agreed with this plan and decided to start their own business, which was O’Reilly Automotive Inc. Today, the company has more than 3,469 stores in 38 states in the country.

At an O’Reilly distribution center, you can work as an Inbound or outbound Material Handler. As an outbound material handler, you will be required to perform multiple DC outbound functions, which include loading, picking or packing orders for shipment. As an inbound material handler, your job is to handle incoming products and ensure accurate inventory. You will unload freight and process paperwork from the vendors. You will batch, tag and stage incoming shipments. You will also be re-labeling products as directed. You must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and you must submit to the company’s pre-employment tests and pass them.
You can also choose to work as a custodian, whose responsibilities are to perform housekeeping and janitorial duties in all the areas of the distribution center. You will perform maintenance duties for outside grounds. You will be responsible for tasks such as emptying trash containers, cardboard containers and sweeping all floor areas of the facility. You will be operating floor scrubbing equipment to assist you in your work.
