Kohl’s is an American department store chain headquartered in Wisconsin. We will be taking a look at distribution center opportunities at Kohl’s.

Company History –
Kohl’s was founded by Maxwell Kohl in the year 1946. The first supermarket was built that year in Southeast Wisconsin, called Kohl’s Food Stores. The first department store was started in the year 1962 in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The department chain’s controlling interest was bought by a British-American Tobacco company’s US retail division BATUS Inc. The Kohl family left the management of the company in the year 1979. The grocery stores were sold to A&P in 1983. In June of 2003, A&P announced their plans to close all of Kohl’s Food Stores. By the end of 2003, all Kohl’s Food Stores were closed. The chain today has 1,146 stores in 49 states of the country.

Material Handler : As a material handler, you will be required to load and unload trailers, scan merchandise, build pallets and label merchandise. You will pick, pack and merge orders, replenish or stock merchandise as needed. You will verify the accuracy of production or location. You may be required to set or assign locations of products. This job entails physical activity which includes standing or walking 8-12 hour shifts with scheduled breaks. You will be required to move merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs without assistance. You need to be able to read, write, and perform basic math and computer operations for this position.

Loss Prevention Associate: As a loss prevention associate, you will assist in the protection of all Kohl’s assets, including physical assets (Facility, machinery and property), Human Assets(Kohl’s Associates and Visitors), and Profit Assets(Merchandise). You will be partnering with DC Loss Prevention Assistant Supervisors and Facilities Management, to professionally monitor Physical Security Policies and Procedures of Kohl’s Department Stores and the Distribution Center. You will report incidents of associate theft/safety violations to the DC Loss Prevention Assistant Supervisor. You will also participate in internal theft investigations in adherence to Kohl’s Loss Prevention Internal Theft Investigation. You will perform EFC/DC- Loss Prevention Audits to measure EFC/DC Accuracy, report production fraud or any kind of “short-cuts” by associates to the EFC/DC Loss Prevention Assistant Supervisor, and monitor associates to ensure that processing guidelines are being met. You will also be required to perform Gatehouse Operations and Gatehouse Data Entry as described in the Gatehouse Section of the DC Loss Prevention Manual. For this position, the ability to be multifunctional, use good judgement, problem solving as well as organizational skills are very crucial. Basic computer operation skills and math skills along with the ability to read and write properly is required. Also, a High School Diploma/ Equivalence and / or previous Distribution Center, Law Enforcement and/or Store Loss Prevention Experience is essential for this position. Working knowledge of software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and PeopleSoft is preferred along with some auditing experience.
